uShibby’s New Theme

Posted by Shannon on Oct 16, 2007

Ok Folks,

Here’s what I’ve done so far.  I have a new theme selected.  I went for a plain simple theme that’s easy to work with.  What do you think?

I have a Facebook Proxy, MySpace Proxy, and now I’ve added a Bebo Proxy as well.  I just uploaded the phproxy script and didn’t test it yet, so it might not work for Bebo.  Sorry it’s 2:35am right now so I’m not really interested in testing it! lol

Although each of these proxies are all using the same script, I’m planning on tweaking each of them to work their best for each social site.  Plus, I’ve been playing around with a few more proxy scripts that I found.  If I find a script that works better than phproxy, I’ll switch it over.

I know the current scripts have their limitations and there are a lot of things that don’t work when you’re on the site, but hey any access is better than no access! :)

Later guys,
~Shannon

uShibby is changing!

Posted by Shannon on Oct 11, 2007

I created uShibby back in spring before facebook apps were released.  At the time the main purpose of the site was to collect all the cool and fun things people were doing while using facebook.

Majority of the site’s content was around wall art that people used to post on their friends profiles.

Since facebook apps has been released there has been numerous applications created that are much better than the wall art.  Because of this it appears the wall art, riddles, surveys, etc are pretty much dying out.

I’ve noticed this trend in my traffic as well, but there has been one part of my site that continues to stay strong.  And that’s my facebook proxy section.

I use proxies myself because I’m blocked from many of the social sites at work.

So, I’ve decided to change the main focus of uShibby.  uShibby will no longer be just facebook fun anymore.  Instead uShibby will now be a social proxy site.

I already have a facebook proxy and a myspace proxy setup on the site.  Currently they’re pretty basic and I haven’t modified the script yet.

I plan to create custom proxies for the social sites (facebook, myspace, youtube, etc).  I will modify each script to get the best results from each site.

Because each site is unique the default phproxy script doesn’t work the best.  I’m hoping with a little tweaking of the script I can get each proxy to work it’s best for each social site.

And you have my personal guarantee that I will not keep track of anything that you type into my proxies!  It was always a concern of mine when I used to use other site’s proxies that they were tracking everything I typed into their script (because it’s really easy to do).   At least by using my scripts, you don’t have to worry about this.

Take care!

Facebook Proxy: Running Silent

Posted by Shannon on Jun 27, 2007

Hey everyone. Just a quick note to post another proxy that I’ve been using to unblock facebook called Running Silent. I haven’t had much time to test this proxy to unblock facebook, however the couple times I used it worked fine. I found it to be a little on the slow side and timed out a few times before it loaded the page, but it works.

Facebook Proxy: Surfing Arena

Posted by Shannon on Jun 27, 2007

Over the last few days I’ve been on the search for a new proxy to access facebook and came across Surfing Arena. I’ve been using surfing arena only for a few days. It’s not bad, but there are better ones. If you’re stuck on finding a working proxy to unblock facebook, than this may be an option.

A word of caution though… The site does have a lot of pop ups. Also there is a possibility that one of these pop up windows could contain spyware. Use with caution.

Facebook Proxy: Facebookproxy.net

Posted by Shannon on Jun 5, 2007

I’m always on the look out for a really excellent proxy to unblock facebook. I’ve tried many in the past and still am unable to find a fully functional proxy that can handle all of facebook including posting to walls, replying to messages in your inbox, and so on.

Majority of the proxies take advantage of a freely available script called PHProxy. This is an excellent script that works really well, but it wasn’t written for facebook.

So tonight I sat down and put my trust in Google. I did a search for “Facebook Proxy” and pressed “I’m feeling lucky”. To my delight, I arrived at facebookproxy.net. I said to myself that this has gotta be the best of the best, the main cheese, the big shit of facebook proxies.

In my eyes this was it, the proxy that would end my frustrations. The proxy that works with facebook. No more limitations, no more crap. Unfortunetly it didn’t live up to it’s name. Yeah, it’s a proxy and yes it worked. But it worked the same as any other proxy running PHProxy.

For a site to call themselves a Facebook Proxy, I am disappointed. The site is no more useful as a facebook proxy than hidemyass.com, which is a good proxy in it’s own right.

But hey, that’s just my 2 cents.
